From Pet to Pint: Victoria’s Herald Street Brew Works Joins the Animals & Ales Fundraiser
Victoria’s craft beer community is getting a little extra paw-some this spring.
Herald Street Brew Works is officially taking part in Animals & Ales Canada, a nationwide fundraising campaign that brings together breweries, pet lovers, and communities to support animal health programs around the world.
Running February 23 to March 16, 2026, the campaign is organized by Veterinarians Without Borders North America and invites Canadians to submit photos of their beloved pets for the chance to appear on a limited-edition beer label, all while helping raise funds for lifesaving veterinary care.
And yes… a Victoria pet could become a brewery legend.
🍺 Herald Street Brew Works Represents Victoria
Victoria’s own Herald Street Brew Works is proudly representing the city in this year’s campaign, giving local pet owners a chance to see their furry (or feathered… or finned) friends featured on a special brewery beer label.
Participants simply submit a photo of their pet through the brewery’s contest page. Once entered, friends, family, and fellow animal lovers can vote by donating, with each vote equal to a $1 donation toward veterinary programs.
The pet with the most votes at the end of the campaign will win the ultimate prize:
✨ Their face on a limited-edition beer brewed by Herald Street Brew Works.
It’s a fun, community-driven way to celebrate pets while supporting meaningful work that helps animals and the people who depend on them.
🐶 Supporting Animal Health Around the World
Funds raised through Animals & Ales go directly toward programs run by Veterinarians Without Borders that provide:
• Veterinary care in underserved communities
• Disease prevention programs for animals
• Emergency response support for animals in crisis situations
• Animal health initiatives that help protect both livestock and household pets
The campaign connects the craft beer community with animal lovers in a way that’s both playful and impactful.
Across Canada, participating breweries include locations in Kelowna, Calgary, Winnipeg, Fredericton, Charlottetown, Mount Pearl, Niagara-on-the-Lake, Toronto, and more, creating a coast-to-coast movement of pet-powered fundraising.
But here in Victoria, the spotlight is firmly on Herald Street Brew Works and the next beer label star could easily be your pet.

🐾 The Bottom Line
Whether your pet is a majestic floof, a mischievous troublemaker, or the kind of animal that already runs the household, Animals & Ales gives them the chance to make a difference and maybe even become Victoria’s next craft beer celebrity.
Because honestly… who wouldn’t want to drink a beer with their dog on the label?
