Quick Review

Some places feed you, and some places tell you a story while they do it. Dumpling Drop does both. What started as Fridays in the kitchen between Tarn and Toom, her mom, has grown into one of Chinatown’s most beloved spots since 2018. The menu is simple, but it ties in so many delicious traditional flavours, and every dumpling is hand-rolled fresh daily. Add a happy hour pairing dumplings with BC beer or natural wine, and you’ve got a new favourite.

Atmosphere

Tucked into Victoria’s historic Chinatown on Pandora Avenue, Dumpling Drop is clean, bright, and always has a great vibe: chill, laid back, and fun. Low music plays in the background so conversation comes easily, and seating is a mix of a few tables and a large bar to eat at. If Tarn is around, ask about the Dumpling Drop story. Hearing it firsthand is something special and makes every bite mean a little more.

Menu Highlights

Pork Belly Dumplings
A classic for a reason. Five deep-fried dumplings topped with housemade chili oil, cilantro, and crispy onions.

Classic Vegan Dumplings
Every bit as satisfying, with the same crispy finish and chili oil kick.

Weekly Rotating Special
Keep an eye out for these. The rotating dumplings are a reason to keep coming back.

Yuzu Brussels Sprouts
A bright, zesty side that pairs perfectly with a plate of dumplings.

Mango Sticky Rice
The sweet finish you didn’t know you needed.

Dumplings come five to an order, with sides like rice and chili oil, cucumber salad, and crispy chicken bao. The menu rotates regularly to keep things fresh. Want to bring the experience home? Grab a bag of 20 frozen hand-rolled dumplings in flavours like Shrimp & Chive, Lemongrass Chicken, Spicy Ginger Beef, and Vegan Triple Mushroom. Don’t leave without a jar of the Dumpling Drop chili oil or Aunty Lynn’s peanut sauce, and check out the merch while you’re there.

Drinks
A wide selection of BC beer, natural wine, and cider, plus non-alcoholic options like Thai iced tea, coconut water, and San Pellegrino juices. Happy hour runs 2–5PM every day: $12 for beer and dumplings, or $14 for natural wine and dumplings.

What Makes It Unique

Dumpling Drop was born from love: a mother and daughter in the kitchen, finding comfort and connection one dumpling at a time. That heart is still in everything they do, from the hand-rolled dumplings made fresh daily to the warm welcome at the counter. With a rotating menu, a standout happy hour, and frozen dumplings and sauces to take home, Dumpling Drop is a Chinatown gem that deserves a spot on your regular rotation.
