Rudi
A strikingly elegant yet cozy restaurant
Atmosphere
Rudi exudes the ambiance of the chic cocktail lounge straight out of a trendy movie or television series. Its decor strikes the perfect balance, neither overpowering nor understated, but undeniably stunning with comfort. Stepping into Rudi feels like being surrounded by the warmth of an older relative’s living room, surrounded by cherished memories and a sense of ease—an impressive feat for a venue established as recently as 2023.

The vibe here is undoubtedly laid-back, making it an ideal spot for catching up with friends or enjoying a romantic evening. Depending on the time of day, Rudi sets a different mood against its backdrop. During my visit, I had the pleasure of experiencing Rudi in both daylight and darkness. In the daytime, the expansive windows flood the space with beautiful natural light, creating an airy atmosphere throughout the restaurant. As the sun sets, the ambiance transforms into a more intimate, dimly lit speakeasy-esque vibe, adding an extra layer of allure to the experience.
Menu
Rudi’s menu is a creative fusion of diverse culinary influences, all anchored by the freshness of West Coast Canadian ingredients. Served family-style, each dish is meticulously plated, showcasing a clear sense of pride and attention to detail. What truly captivated me was the unmistakable European flair woven into every bite—an aspect I found particularly charming.
The cocktail selection at Rudi is nothing short of spectacular, with each drink expertly crafted to complement the dishes, which all feature inspiring ingredients. I was eager to try every cocktail on the menu, as each one seemed more enticing than the last. While I didn’t delve into the wine list during my visit, I couldn’t help but notice its breadth and quality, and I’m confident that the selections would perfectly complement the culinary offerings. You will also find an array of locally brewed beers again, all with the ability to be paired beautifully with the meals. They also have some delicious non-alcoholic options including a house ginger and root beer.
back to the food, some of the options are the Scallop with grapes and caviar, A Burrata with peach, white anchovy, and surprisingly perfectly topped with popcorn, and the Parisienne Gnocchi with braised lamb and winter squash. They also offer some classics like the Bone Marrow with grilled bread and caper vinaigrette, or the comforting Cabbage Roll filled with beef and rice.
While there I had:
•Scallops, grapes, caviar
•Burrata, peach, white anchovy, popcorn, arugula
•Orzo, black pepper, grana padano, mortadella
•Pork Belly, dijon, cabbage
•Duck, confit, lentil, carrot
•Pimms Cup
•Citrus Sour
•Hot Buttered Rum
To note, Rudi doesn’t list all ingredients on their menu so you need to inform your server of any allergies before ordering. They also have a Family Menu that can be ordered, where everyone at the table participation is required.
Service
Rudi’s service is nothing short of exceptional. From the moment you step through the doors until you bid farewell, you’re greeted with a blend of professionalism and laid-back charm that immediately puts you at ease. The staff exude an eagerness to assist, ensuring that every aspect of your dining experience is seamless experience.
I was particularly impressed by the level of knowledge and confidence displayed when inquiring about the menu, especially when it came to the cocktail selection. Each question was met with a thorough and assured response, leaving no doubt about the expertise of the team.
As the dishes arrive, they’re presented with such care, with each plate explained to enhance your enjoyment and appreciation of the culinary journey Rudi is taking you on. To me, it’s this attention to detail and genuine passion for hospitality that truly sets Rudi apart. This is the reason I not only will revisit it often but also highly recommend it.
