Spinnakers Gastro Brewpub
Quick Review
A Victoria institution that has been earning its reputation since 1984, harbour views, 30 house-brewed beers on tap, farm-to-table food, and a truffle-and-beer pairing you won’t find anywhere else in the city. Whether you’re a craft beer lover, a foodie, or just someone who wants a great meal with a view, Spinnakers delivers every time.
Atmosphere
Spinnakers has that rare quality of feeling both historic and genuinely alive. Opened in May 1984 — shortly after Canadian lawmakers approved the concept of brewpubs — it’s been a cornerstone of Victoria’s craft beer scene ever since. The two-level layout gives you a choice: the lower level is more relaxed and dining-room-like, while upstairs channels a classic pub feel. Both levels have spectacular harbour views and patios that are hard to beat almost any time of year.

Menu Highlights
At Spinnakers, you’ll find a diverse selection of over 20 house-brewed beers on tap, spanning the entire spectrum of beer styles—from Scotch Ales to IPAs, Raspberry Lagers, and more. One thing I really love about Spinnakers is the unpretentious vibe. It’s a place that truly feels like everyone is welcome.
Their farm-to-table philosophy shines through, as Spinnakers partners with over 35 local farmers and producers, ensuring a steady supply of fresh, local ingredients year-round. Their seafood is all sustainably sourced from local waters, reflecting their commitment to both quality and environmental responsibility. Whether you’re in for breakfast, lunch, dinner, or just a quick snack, there’s something for everyone.
Breakfast offerings include dishes like benedicts, hashes, and frittatas. As for lunch and dinner, you can look forward to mouthwatering options like Alderwood Smoked Pulled Pork Burgers, Chicken Bulgogi Burgers, Blue Cheese and Apple Flatbread, and Clam and Caper Fettuccine.
Pub favourites are also on the menu, including BBQ Brewhouse Nachos, a Beer & Cheese Pot, and the standout West Coast Fish Plate—featuring applewood-smoked chum, albacore tuna, Fanny Bay oysters, celeriac remoulade, and wasabi aioli.
Their happy hour, running Monday to Friday from 3 PM to 5 PM, is a must-try, offering delicious bites like chicken wings, popcorn chicken, and truffle fries at a fantastic price. Plus, they feature house beers, handmade highballs, and house wines on special.
For those who love a sweet treat, the on-site provisions store stocks house-made goods like hand-rolled chocolate truffles, fresh-baked pastries, muffins, and scones. There are also plenty of savoury goodies like house-smoked tuna and bacon, fresh bread, apple chutney, cocktail kits, and off-sales of their beer, cider, and spirits.
A unique highlight at Spinnakers is the Truffle and Beer Flight pairing. It’s a match made in heaven for chocolate and beer lovers—trust me, it’s an experience you won’t want to miss.
