Cafe Malabar – West Coast Dinner Series
I was absolutely delighted to attend Cafe Malabar’s inaugural dinner series, Kadal Amma, which masterfully combines the flavours of Canada’s West Coast with the culinary traditions of India’s West Coast.
What is “Kadal Amma”, this term originated in Southern India and translates to Mother of the Sea.
From Cafe Malabar: ” The sea is often personified as a maternal figure, representing nurturing, sustenance, and protection. The sea is not just a body of water but a provider of livelihoods, a source of inspiration for poets and artists, and a symbol of vastness and infinity.
Kadal Amma represents the deep spiritual and cultural connection that the people have with the sea, emphasizing the symbiotic relationship between humans and nature, and the importance of respecting and honouring the environment that sustains life.”
The seven-course menu was a delightful experience, brimming with creativity and deliciousness in every dish!

They plan on doing dinner series monthly, so be on the lookout for the next one! You absolutely do not want to miss out!
