Crack Open a Sea Urchin at Finest At Sea’s Divers’ Bounty Masterclass

If you’ve ever wondered what it’s actually like to crack open a fresh sea urchin or you’re the kind of seafood lover who will happily try just about anything from BC waters this upcoming Victoria event needs to be on your radar.

On Thursday, August 20, 2026, Finest At Sea is hosting a Divers’ Bounty Masterclass at its James Bay location, bringing together local seafood, wine, and a hands-on look at some of the incredible species harvested from our coast.

And with just 30 seats available, this is a pretty intimate one.

What to Expect

The evening will be led by Chef Colton Armstrong-Ashley, who will guide guests through a tasting experience featuring some seriously unique local seafood.

Each ticket includes a wine pairing and three tasting samples, with one sample featuring each of the evening’s highlighted diver-harvested species:

  • Sea urchin
  • Sea cucumber
  • Geoduck

Guests will also get the chance to crack open their own sea urchin, making this much more than your typical seafood tasting.

The evening will also include a guest diver/harvester speaker, door prizes, and discounted uni products available for attendees.

Meet Chef Colton Armstrong-Ashley

Leading the masterclass is Chef Colton Armstrong-Ashley, whose culinary background includes time at Marilena Raw Bar and Janevca Kitchen & Lounge.

Chef Colton is part of an initiative that brings together unique culinary experiences in unexpected locations and is also a host of the upcoming local and wild TV docu-series Savouré Here.

For this masterclass, he’ll be putting the spotlight on some of BC’s most interesting seafood and the people responsible for bringing it from the ocean to our plates.
