HEAL Wellness Is Opening in Victoria — Here’s What You Need to Know
Victoria is getting a fresh new spot for açaí bowls, smoothies and feel-good eats. HEAL Wellness is opening at University Heights on Saturday, August 29, with a Grand Opening celebration that includes free açaí bowls, exclusive merch, a live DJ and $10 bowls all day.
If colourful smoothie bowls, fresh fruit and smoothies packed with real, whole ingredients are your thing, there’s a new Victoria spot you’ll want to know about.
HEAL Wellness is officially opening its new location at 3956 Shelbourne Street in University Heights on Saturday, August 29, bringing its menu of açaí bowls, superfood bowls, smoothies and wellness-focused drinks to Victoria.
We got a chance to try a few things from the menu ahead of the Grand Opening, and there is a LOT to be excited about.
Meet HEAL Wellness
HEAL started with a simple idea: healthy food should taste incredible, feel approachable and bring people together.
Rather than positioning wellness as something complicated or intimidating, HEAL is designed to fit into everyday life. Think grabbing breakfast before work, picking up a smoothie after the gym, meeting a friend for an afternoon snack or simply wanting something fresh and filling.
The menu focuses heavily on recognizable, whole-food ingredients like açaí, strawberries, blueberries, bananas, mango, pitaya, pineapple, coconut, dates, oats, nut butters, hemp seeds and more.
And while there are plenty of protein-packed options and add-ons like creatine, collagen and lion’s mane, you definitely don’t need to be heading to or from the gym to enjoy it.
Sometimes you just want a really good smoothie.
What We Tried
Obviously, we couldn’t welcome HEAL to Victoria without doing a little taste testing first. For research purposes, naturally. 👀
OG Açaí Bowl — $15
If you’re visiting HEAL for the first time, the OG Açaí Bowl is probably a good place to start.
The bowl features an açaí base topped with granola, strawberries, blueberries, banana, coconut, cacao nibs and hemp seed.
It’s colourful, loaded with fresh fruit and has that mix of creamy, crunchy and fruity that makes a good açaí bowl so satisfying.
And if this is the one you have your eye on, you’ll definitely want to keep reading — HEAL is giving some away during the Grand Opening.
Mango Bowl — $15
For something a little more tropical, we tried the Mango Bowl.
Its base combines mango, agave and coconut milk, topped with granola, banana, mango, blueberries, coconut, cacao nibs and bee pollen.
It’s bright, refreshing and feels particularly well suited to a sunny Victoria afternoon.
Dragon Bowl — $15
This might be the most Instagrammable of the bunch.
The vibrant pink Dragon Bowl gets its colour from pitaya (dragon fruit), with a base made from pitaya, mango, peach, pineapple, agave and oat milk.
It’s finished with granola, strawberries, kiwi, banana, coconut, cacao nibs and hemp seed.
She’s colourful. She’s tropical. She understood the assignment.
Vanilla Date Smoothie — $12
On the smoothie side, we tried the Vanilla Date, which HEAL calls its Longevity & Brain Elixer.
This one blends banana, vanilla pea protein, creatine, lion’s mane, dates, almond butter, oat milk and coconut cream.
It also packs 24 grams of protein, making it a particularly good option when you want something more substantial.
Creamy, slightly sweet from the dates and almond butter, and definitely one of the menu items we’d order again.
A Fresh, Accessible Option in Victoria
One thing we especially like about HEAL’s new location is that it doesn’t feel like wellness food with a luxury price tag attached.
Most of the bowls are around $15, while smoothies range from $8 to $12, with optional boosters available if you want to add protein, creatine, collagen, greens or other ingredients.
Considering the amount of fresh fruit and whole-food ingredients going into many of the menu items, the pricing feels approachable for this style of grab-and-go meal.
The University Heights location also makes HEAL relatively easy to get to from different parts of Victoria. It’s located along major bus routes on Shelbourne Street, and there’s good parking in the area if you’re driving.
That makes it an easy stop whether you’re heading to UVic, commuting through the area, finishing a workout or just looking for somewhere new to grab breakfast or lunch.
